My Tools

I have provided some of my daily tools as ideas that may help you get on track to where you want to be.

Personally I use a common notebook – this is a mix of work and life. I have tried planners and diaries but they do not work for me. I like to have something to hand that I do not place any emphasis on neatness/presentation and just concentrate on getting my thoughts down. For this, I have tried quite a few notebooks and my favourite by far is Leuchtturm1917; robust hardcover, two ribbons as page finders, great quality paper and a5, which is my favourite size.

I also have a Leuchtturm1917 mechanical pencil – I love the aesthetics and the functionality. It is small but very nice to write with. This made it into my kit last year and I opted for the Grehgriffel Nr. 2.

As a main option, I tend to lean towards using a ballpoint pen. For the past 4 months or so, this has been the uni-ball one. Again fairly small in size but nice in the hand and very easy to write with. Japanese stationary is a rabbit hole it itself but this pen will not disappoint.

My laptop of choice is currently a 14-inch MacBook Pro – Space Grey, which I ordered very late 2021. I have found no need to upgrade since and the performance is excellent. The M1 chip has been surpassed now to the M4 but I do not see the need to change. The machine is still super fast and the battery is excellent. Personally the 14″ size was a great change from Apple.

With the following configuration:

Apple M1 Pro with 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine

16GB unified memory

1TB SSD storage

96W USB-C Power Adapter

14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display

Three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI port, SDXC card slot, MagSafe 3 port

Backlit Magic Keyboard with Touch ID – British Accessory Kit

For highlighters, my choice is the Copic Sketch R43 and for writing its the Clickart retractable felt tip 2.0mm Bullet tip 0.6mm Line width. Both are amazing in their own right.
